(male narrator) This video is for Xfinity customers who are installing Xfinity TV with a digital or high-definition set-top box. Your kit will contain our easy-to-follow setup instructions and quick start guide, your set-top box, power cord, remote control and two AA batteries, and two coax cables– one long, one short. If you ordered an HD box, you”ll have an HDMI cable too. Whether you”re connecting a standard-definition or a high-definition set-top box, the first thing you”ll need to do is connect the Xfinity box to the cable wall outlet. Start with the longer coax cable. Screw one end into the Cable In or RF In port on the back of your set-top box. Make sure all your connections are finger-tight, but be sure not to overtighten. Now screw the other end of this cable into your cable wall outlet. If your TV service is standard definition, not HD, you”ll screw one end of the shorter coax cable into your set-top box where it says “To TV.” Once you”ve connected that, connect the other end to the Cable or RF In connection on the back of your TV.
If you”re connecting a high-definition set-top box, plug your HDMI cable into the back of your set-top box in the port marked “HDMI Out” or “HDMI To TV.” Connect the other end to the back of your TV in the HDMI port. Now, whether you”re connecting HD or SD, plug the power cable into the back of your set-top box. Plug the other end into the outlet on your wall. When you”ve got all the cables plugged into your TV, use your TV”s remote or the Power button on the TV to turn your television on. If you connected using the coax cable and the digital set-top box, tune your TV to channel 3.
If you don”t receive a signal, try turning to channel 4. If you connected your HD set-top box using the HDMI cable, tune your TV to the appropriate HDMI input. The final step is to activate your new remote so it will work with your TV. Place the batteries into your new remote. Then use the instructions included with your remote or visit us online at xfinity.com/remotes and follow the on-screen instructions for your specific remote control. Your remote is properly programmed when the On/Off, Volume, and Mute buttons are working. All that”s left to do is activate your service.
You”ll need your Comcast account number and phone number. You can find your account number in the instruction booklet and on your receipt or bill. To activate, visit us online or call the toll-free number on your kit to use our automated activation system available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. When your set-top box is activated, you”ll be able to enjoy all the entertainment you love.
